ABOUT STEPS

This semester-long discipleship program is a gospel-centered resource to help people confront the sin and suffering in their lives and receive the freedom and redemption found only in Jesus Christ.

Participants meet weekly for large group teaching and small group discussion, as well as one-on-one mentoring.

THE COMPONENTS

TEACHING ▾

During the first hour of each week's group session, participants meet corporately to receive video teaching for the week's study.

SMALL GROUPS ▾

During the second hour of each week's group session, participants meet in private, gender-specific small groups for deeper discussion and honest conversation around the week’s teachings and application.

MENTORS ▾

Mentors are believers who have faithfully completed the STEPS program and necessary training and have developed sufficient spiritual maturity to disciple someone else. Participants meet with their mentors weekly for one-on-one discussion of the week's teaching and in-depth application to the participant's story.

DAILY STUDY ▾

Daily study – a combination of Bible study, reflection, and prayer — is required throughout the STEPS program. Teaching-focused questions are designed to challenge participants to honestly and prayerfully examine their lives in light of the Scriptures they are studying.

ASSESSMENT ▾

In the middle of the program, participants transition from daily study to assessments. This three-week period is a time to reflect on and write about specific sins, circumstances, and relationships that may be robbing the participant of the freedom he or she has in Christ.

STEPS AT CATC

NEXT STEPS SEMESTER BEGINS AUGUST 21 | WEDNESDAYS | 7-9PM

Our next semester of STEPS will begin on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 and continue through Wednesday, December 4, 2019. We will not meet on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 (before Thanksgiving).

Participants would be prepared to commit at least six to eight hours each week to STEPS–two hours each Wednesday for the large and small group gatherings, one to three hours each week for mentor discussions (day and time to be determined by the participant and the mentor), and a minimum of 30 minutes each day for individual study.

Childcare is available during our Wednesday night gatherings for birth-5th grade. Click on the button below if you would like to participate in our upcoming semester of STEPS.

If you have any questions, contact Pastor of Care, Pete Brooks.

Because we are still in the early stages of building this ministry, we are currently only able to offer participation to those who regularly attend Church at the Cross. We look forward to opening registration in the future to all who are interested.

Note that if registration is full, you have the option of being put on a waiting list.
