Faithfulness in the Land of the Unreached: Kelson's Trip to Japan

In 2023 and 2024, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit and serve the unreached people group of Japan through Church at the Cross. Japan is the 2nd largest unreached people group with just less than 1% of the population being Christian! On both trips, I spent time serving and supporting the mission efforts in Osaka and Tokyo.

On my trips, I have witnessed God’s faithfulness to those who do not know him. How he pours out his spirit and draws the lost to him. In 2024, a core memory for me was when we attended Mustard Seed Network Tokyo. During this service, we got to see a young Japanese girl named Mako be baptized, which was incredibly encouraging to see and how this coincided with our team’s first day in Japan.

With the gift of witnessing such a beautiful baptism, we also got to witness and partake in worship with such a diverse church body filled with not only the Japanese people, but other people from all over the world, whether they were from other parts of Asia, America, or Europe, they were there to glorify God. In that service truly got to see a small glimpse of the promise in Revelation 7:9-10.

There are several other stories and things I can say of how God used these experiences from both of my trips to Japan to grow me in my faith. I chose to share this particular story, because it is a reminder that God has proclaimed victory on this earth through Jesus for all people. Every tongue will bow and confess Jesus as Lord. Missions are an opportunity that God invites us to in sharing the Gospel so that they may know that the battle has been won and that worship may exist all across this earth in celebrating the victory of our Lord Jesus.

The question is not if you’re called, but to whom and to where you’re called.

Join us for Sending Sunday on November 9 as we unveil our lineup of 2026 trips. After both services, stay for an interest meeting in Annex 2 to learn more about each trip and how you can get involved.
