Week 8: What About the Church?
/Tonight, guests will consider God’s design for His people, the Church. The Church is not a building, an event, or a human institution. It is the redeemed people of God, called out of darkness and brought into Christ’s kingdom. It is a family, a body, and a temple in which God Himself dwells by His Spirit. Though often misunderstood or reduced to programs and structures, the Church is Christ’s beloved bride, through whom He continues His mission in the world.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19-22 — So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Prayer Prompt: Pray that guests would catch a vision for the beauty and purpose of Christ’s Church. Ask that the Spirit would reveal the Church not as a distant institution but as the living family of God. Pray that they would see the church as welcoming, united, and centered on Jesus. Pray that those exploring faith would experience genuine community tonight and sense the love of Christ expressed through His people. Pray for decisions for faith and baptism. Pray that the Lord would remove past wounds or misconceptions about the Church and replace them with hope, healing, and a desire to step into the life of God’s people
