Week 7: Who is the Holy Spirit?

Tonight, guests will consider the third person of our Triune God, the Holy Spirit. He is not an “it,” nor an impersonal force like the wind. He is personal, present, and powerful. He is fully God. He is all around us, and He dwells within those who know the Lord. Yet, He is often the most misunderstood person of the Trinity.

Scripture: Romans 8:11 — If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Prayer Prompt: The Nicene Creed declares, “We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.” Pray that the Father would use His Spirit to give life tonight. Ask that He would beckon people to come to Jesus, and that through His blood they would experience forgiveness and reconciliation with the Father. Pray that the Lord would save souls. That He would draw people to repentance, faith, and baptism. Pray against fear or confusion, and for a clear understanding of a personal God who desires to walk with His people.
