Front Yard Festivals 2021

What an exciting year for CATC Kids!

In October, CATC Kids partnered with our Groups ministry to help our people host Front-yard Festivals.  We had 23 of these festivals throughout our community.  Front-yard Festivals were created through necessity during Covid but have quickly become one of our favorite ways to help our people meet and engage with their neighbors.

Parent-Child Dedications are observed three times a year:  October, January, and May.  This past year we had 28 children whose parents dedicated themselves to raising their children in a Christ-centered home.  What a blessing to be able to partner with these families!

In March, Kasey Reyes joined our team as a Preschool Ministry Associate.  Kasey has a heart for children and love for Jesus.  She is such a blessing to our team and goes above and beyond to make sure our preschool rooms and teachers are well prepared for Sunday mornings along with being a valued friend and resource to our families with preschoolers.

During Spring Break, we hosted several different days of fun and gathering for our families and kids.  Among other things, we enjoyed Donuts at Dove Park and took our older kids to Alley Cats for bowling, games, laser tag and more.  It was great to spend time together.

We had such a great summer!  During June we took a team of 26 on a Family Mission Trip to El Paso.  While there, we worked alongside two churches prayer walking and helping to host events to reach the neighborhoods around their churches.  To learn more about our trip, read the Reyes story here.

Vacation Bible School is always one of our favorite weeks of summer and this year was no different.  Between our Preschool VBS in the morning and our Kids VBS in the evening, we had 322 children attend!  Almost half of those kids came from families who do not regularly attend our church.  We had an excellent team of volunteers including an awesome group of students who served this year.  The children raised $650.00 which was given to Aqua De Vida and Dios con Nosotros, the two churches we worked alongside in El Paso.

Summer ended with a trip to Riverbend Retreat Center for Kids Camp.  This year, 46 campers and 9 counselors spent four days and nights learning more about Jesus and strengthening our walk with Him while enjoying hiking, swimming, and more.  We took a large group of 5th graders and enjoyed our time with them before they moved to our awesome CATC Students ministry.

On August 21, Promotion Sunday, we opened several new classes so we between the two gathering times, we now have six nursery classes, 12 preschool classes, and 9 elementary classes.  Even with new classes opening, we regularly must close classes to keep from going over the teacher-student ratio.  We need more covenant members to join the CATC Kids team so we can reach more children!

We are excited about the year ahead and appreciate the church-wide support given to our Kids’ Ministry. To learn more about CATC Kids or to find information about joining our team, click the button below
